Francis Alexander Solicitors have helped launch the Brick Appeal for Didsbury Playing Fields with a significant contribution to the Fund-Raising Dinner held at Toc H Didsbury Rugby Club.
The local solicitors, who have been a fixture on the Heaton Mersey high street for the last three years, contributed over £5,000 towards the £7,400 raised on the evening. The scheme aims to raise funds to help prevent the playing fields, which are now used by a number of different sports, from flooding.
Principal Solicitor Alex Speed, a former referee and coach, has brought a brick in memory of his father, Rudy, who also played for the club. He is pictured below presenting a £3,000 cheque towards the appeal to Jeff Burn, the club President.
“It’s an organisation that’s close to my heart both through myself as a former player as well as my late father, Rudy, who was a player and President of the club,” said Alex. “It’s a great club at the heart of Didsbury with great camaraderie running through it.”
